About the Album

Pianist Bob Nell and bassist Michael Bisio first met in Seattle in 1975, at the beginning of their respective musical careers. More than fifty years later, their conversation continues on We Are Here, a collection of twelve original Bob Nell compositions performed in two trio configurations.

Nell and Bisio are joined by drummer Adam Greenberg on the album’s first seven tracks and Austin Belluscio on the final five. The changing trio settings give the recording two distinct rhythmic characters while preserving the longstanding musical connection at its center.

The album reflects decades of composition, performance, travel, and shared musical history. Its music remains grounded in the jazz tradition while leaving room for harmonic tension, open improvisation, lyricism, and the more adventurous edge that has long characterized Nell’s playing.

We Are Here was recorded in Bozeman, Montana, in August 2025 and released by Origin Records in 2026.
